I realize I am not breaking the mold much by saying what has been said by other journalists, but being around it all day. It is basically an American Ferrari 458/488.

And there isn’t a damn thing wrong with that.

Only wrong  to the people who didn’t want it to change. Old name, new car  

I honestly like its styling better than the Ferrari.

Being around some “old Corvette owners” all day. I expected to hear blasphemy conversations, but all I heard was the “traded in my C7 so I could order one” convos.

I realize my focus group was only anyone in ear shot of me, but the reception I am feeling is completely opposite of what I expected.

Then maybe people aren’t giving the Corvette Faithful as a group enough credit for being flexible. I’ve been talking with C6 and C7 owners who ,  even if they aren’t interesting in running to a dealer to trade for one, appreciate it for what it is.

I have no issues with the C8 styling or the mid engine layout. What I DO take to task is the age old , never changing facts of engineering flaws , build quality, orange peel paint, etc.  If this is finally the year of corrections, Great! A customer shouldn't have to accept a lack of perfection just because of a value price point.
